i1 Super Series Launched
Machdar Motorsports announces new i1 Super Series

"7 Venues.9 teams.18 Drivers.1 Championship" is the caption of this new series.
The i1 Super Series is designed to get major attraction with the involvement of star cricketers, celebrities and corporates. Designed in a similar fashion to the IPL, the i1 Super Series aims to bring the best of all worlds.
The series is said to be a championship with 7 rounds in 4 countries, 9 teams representing 9 Indian cities owned by various coporates or celebrities. A team would cost $ 5 Million and each team will have 2 drivers – 1 Indian driver and 1 International driver as mandatory.
The race venues are supposed to be New Delhi (India), Chennai(India), Abu Dhabi (UAE), Dubai (UAE), Qatar (UAE), Sepang (Malaysia) and Pattaya (Thailand). The first race of the series is set start in India at Buddh International Circuit, New Delhi on December 18th 2011and the last leg to be in Chennai, MMST Track.
The Super Car series will have one make cars provided by Radical Sports Cars, England. The series is developed and run by Bangalore based Machdar Motorsports who also have plans to run a Superbike and Super Hatch series in the similar format as per information on the official i1 Super Series website.
The new series was launched at Mumbai with much fanfare in the prescence of Vicky Chandhok, Chairman, Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI).
